Don’t worry. There are literally hundreds of people who’ve tried landlines, or satellite, or a mobile connection, and switched to Village Networks. Aside from any contractual obligations you may have, making the change is simple and very affordable. Some Village Networks subscribers have been able to negotiate an early end to their subscription with a slow broadband provider, on the basis that the product doesn’t stand up to its supplier’s claims.
They promised me broadband, but it’s slow!
Fortunately for the service providers, but unfortunately for many subscribers, the official definition of broadband is anything faster than a dial-up connection. Most operators use 512 kbps as the starting point for their definition of broadband. Some even use speeds as low as 256 kbps. In reality, those speeds are painfully slow, even before you compare them with the speeds as fast as 10Mbps available by wireless.
So, when a company offers you broadband, be sure to ask exactly what they mean.
